Jonel Hein was appointed district director for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) North Florida District Office on December 19, 2022.  As district director, Mrs. Hein oversees the delivery of agency programs such as financial assistance, management counseling and business development.   She is responsible for the daily operation of the district office in Jacksonville and an Alternate Work Site in Orlando, FL.    

Her focus is on building and maintaining a viable network of collaborative partnerships with small business stakeholders and serving as a local resource representing the SBA at significant engagements.  Additionally, her responsibilities include advancing the SBA brand recognition through SBA initiatives, MOU’s and Strategic Partner Alliances.  

The North Florida District office encompasses the 43 counties north of Orlando and through the Florida Panhandle and services more than 1.6 million small businesses.  The district office’s recent successes for fiscal year 2023 include generating over $884 million in loan approvals which created over 15,000 new jobs and over $1.2 billion in contracting opportunities for our 8a firm portfolio.

Mrs. Hein has been with the SBA for 33 years; previously serving her first 30 years in the South Florida District Office.  Prior to her civil service, she worked in consumer lending with several banks in Florida and Washington State. 

She is married, has 4 sons and 4 grandchildren.

Teresa (Terry) Applegate MBA, C.P.M
is an award-winning Executive Supply Manager with over thirty years’ experience in providing Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, Procurement, and Supply Management for multiple Fortune 100 companies. She specializes in indirect spend, including Marketing, Print, Human Services, and Facilities Management. Terry holds an M.B.A., C.P.M., and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. Additionally, she is a published author and a pioneer in the development of client-centric procurement on both a domestic and global basis.

Terry has a proven track record of contributing to strategic planning and goal setting to drive company growth. Most recently, she is leading SCORE Jacksonville as the Chapter Chair and servicing small businesses as a Certified Mentor. She has delivered transformation and change, bringing new value to multiple organizations, reducing costs, and streamlining processes in various venues. Her career has afforded her the opportunity to negotiate and formalize contracts internationally throughout Asia, Latin America, Europe, and North America.

Furthermore, Terry has served on the board of the National Minority Supplier Development Council and the Institute of Supply Management’s Minority and Women Business Development Group. She was the President of the FMSDC First Coast Chapter and participated as a board member of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee for Economic Inclusion. In 2007, she won a Mosaic Award from the Jacksonville Business Journal for her work with minority businesses and the Florida Minority Supplier Development Council. Terry was awarded an MBA from Jacksonville University in Florida and a Bachelor of Arts from Iona College in New York. She also attained her Certified Purchasing Management certification from the Institute of Supply Management in Arizona.

Terry resides in St. Johns with her husband and fur babies.

Yes. Admission is $59.

What should I wear?

While there is no dress code, a lot of people who attend this summit will likely be dressed formally or business casual. It's better to dress in whatever way you feel comfortable when meeting new friends and potential business partners!

Can I bring my child(ren) to the conference?

Attendance is limited to individuals over the age of 18. If your child is over the age of 18 and did not purchase a ticket in advance, they will be denied entry.

Will meals be provided with my ticket purchase?

Yes, dinner will be provided.

Will recordings be available?

Recordings will be available after the event on our YouTube channel.
